Gator Tracks Weekly Family Update

What a fabulous week at AVPS!

We are excited to share that 80 students from Amherstview P. S. proudly represented our school at the Fort Henry Regional Road Race! Students from Grades 3 to 8 showed incredible effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the event. We are thrilled to share that 18 students have advanced to the District Race on October 22, and our Atom Boys team (Grades 3–4) earned first place overall for achieving the lowest combined team score among the top four finishers. Congratulations to all participants on a fantastic day of racing and school spirit!  Go Gators Go!

Un grand MERCI to Mme. Mackenzie, Mme. Bigelow, and Mme. Lecompte for their time and energy with coaching.  Thank-you to families for your support and happy cheering!

Below we have included information about the LDSB progressive discipline policy, the provincial code of conduct and the human rights poster with information about how to access the human rights reporting tool. These guidelines help ensure a safe and respectful environment for all our students.  Please see this important information below.

Families of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) received these on October 16th.  Family input is an important part of the IEP process. We encourage you to review your student’s IEP carefully and reach out to your student’s classroom teacher if you have any questions or would like to connect further.  Thank-you for returning the consultation log to your child’s teacher.

AVPS students in grades 5-8 will be supported with experiential learning when they visit the technology room at AVPS!  With guidance from Mr. Cardy, our Itinerant STEM Teacher. students will gain skills in construction/woodworking and hospitality/culinary this year. They will also learn about the diverse options in secondary school for anyone interested in career pathways for university, college, the skilled trades and the workplace.  Please see the photos below of Gators in action!

Socktober is back!  Please have a peek at the poster shared in classrooms below. Gators are working to support the local community – together, we can do so much!

Please see upcoming spirit days below!  Thank-you to the AVPS Student Council for organizing these fun days!

Resources that support foundational literacy and math skills at home can be found through the links below!

Please reach out to the school if you have any questions, we are here to support you!

Bringing Outside Food into Classrooms

Due to the presence of various allergies within our school, it is essential to inform your child’s educator in advance if you are wanting to bring food to share in your child's classroom for reasons of celebration.

Please connect with your child's educators well ahead of time to arrange the timing. Only store-bought, prepackaged food items with clearly labeled ingredient lists are permitted.

Please provide the ingredient list to your child's educator at least two days in advance so they can communicate with families so they can decide whether their child can participate. Thank you for your cooperation.
