March 2 to 6, 2026
AVPS Families, đđđ
At AVPS we believe in growing strong minds and strong hearts. Just like the incredible athletes we watched competing at the Olympic Games, success doesnât happen overnight. This comes from years of training, returning from setbacks and injuries, and continuing even when things are hard.Â
This is the Power of YET.
âI canât do this⊠yet.â
âI donât understand⊠yet.â
âI havenât mastered it⊠yet.â
That uncomfortable feeling when learning gets hard? Thatâs called productive struggle. Thatâs where learning happens. Thatâs where we grow. Just like building a muscle, we build our brains when we stretch, practice, and keep going â especially when it feels tough. You can do it. And we are here to help you every step of the way.
We are so proud of our basketball teams who competed in their tournaments this week. You showed dedication, teamwork, and heart. You honoured your time, your commitment, and your team. Most of all, you kept getting back up and trying every single time. That is grit. That is growth â way to go Gators! A big thank you to coaches, Lemoine, Greenly and Smith for your time and energy.
We are also proud of every one of our Gators for the hard work you put in each day â building your skills and getting a little bit better every day. Â Every time you practice your reading. Every time you solve a tricky math problem. Every time you choose kindness. Thatâs growth.
As a staff, we are learners too. We work to build our skills and learn the best ways to meet students where they are and support their success. Together â students, staff, and families â we are growing stronger every day.
Thank you to our incredible community for your continued support as we help every Gator achieve their very best.
Remember, Gators:
There is no such thing as failure⊠only feedback.
Keep growing. Keep going. The power of YET is strong in green and gold. đ
Please see the links below to the resource through TVO Kids. A great resource to learn more about various multicultural holidays, and the celebrations that happen during these times.
Our focus at AVPS remains strong foundations in literacy and math, along with our Words Matter campaign. By choosing kind words, listening with empathy, and supporting one anotherâeven when we disagreeâwe help create a positive, inclusive school for everyone. đ
Way to go, AVPS! Thank you to our amazing staff, families, and community partners for working together to support every Gator â big and small.
If you have any questions, please reach outâwe are here to support you.

The Words Matter Campaign aims to reduce the incidence and impact of harmful and discriminatory language within our school community. đđ
đ This whole-school initiative includes activities engaging staff, students, and parents/caregivers.
We are in the process of gathering some data related to how AVPS students are feeling about the words they hear at school. This data will help us to further identify areas of need.
As we know, it takes a team to make an impact. We are committed to providing students, educators, and families with the resources and support needed to maximize the impact of this work through Words Matter and the LDSB Equity Team.
The pocket guide for addressing harmful language below is being implemented at AVPS. We are sharing with families as a resource to support conversations at home.
