Gator Tracks Weekly Family Update

June 8 to 12, 2026

AVPS Families, 🐊

Another exciting and busy week at AVPS!

A huge congratulations to all of our Gators who participated in the Regional Track & Field Meet—what an incredible accomplishment! Your hard work, perseverance, and determination truly showed. We are so proud of you! Thank you as well to our dedicated coaches for the time, energy, and support you provided to help make this opportunity possible for our students.

We would also like to extend a very warm AVPS welcome to Alexis Akey, who has joined the Gator Staff Team in the role of Assistant Office Administrator. We are excited to have you as part of our Gator team as we move further into June.

June is a time of celebration and reflection. At AVPS, we are proud to recognize Pride Month and National Indigenous History Month—an opportunity for us to honour diversity, inclusion, and the voices, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

Gatorfest is happening Monday, June 8 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM!

Organized by our fabulous School Council—thank you for all of your support! With food vendors, inflatables, a foam party with the fire department, and so much more, we hope you can join us for this fun-filled celebration.

Staffing is currently in process, and we will share more information as we move through the spring staffing process.

Please check the dates below and reach out anytime if you have questions — we are always here to help! 💚🐊

Harmony Movement Words Matter Campaign

The Words Matter Campaign aims to reduce the incidence and impact of harmful and discriminatory language within our school community. 💚💛

🐊 This whole-school initiative includes activities engaging staff, students, and parents/caregivers.

As we know, it takes a team to make an impact.  We are committed to providing students, educators, and families with the resources and support needed to maximize the impact of this work through Words Matter and the LDSB Equity Team.

The pocket guide for addressing harmful language below is being used at AVPS.  We are sharing with families as a resource to support conversations at home.
